Indonesian & Japanese Rohto Mentholatum Acnes UV Tint ; Review, Swatch & Comparison

Well, another review of my favorite product!

i love indonesian version of Mentholatum Acnes. It's has good coverage, good SPF level, affordable price (35.000 idr-40.000 idr for 30ml product) and the best thing is it's tinted! It's only came in 1 shade, but it's match my skintone well.

I was lil bit curious about Japanese version Mentholatum Acnes. The only difference i used to saw is higher SPF (SPF 50+ PA++ while indonesian only has SPF 30 PA++). But still, i want to get it (*´▽`*)

Lucky me, last january my cousin went to Japan and he's nice enough to bought some sunscreen for me ♡ .. so here i am, compare them for you ^^

Left : Mentholatum Acnes SPF 30 PA++ (indonesian)
Right : Mentholatum Acnes SPF 50+ PA++ (japanese)
Indonesian version using 2 languages in it's packaging, English & Indonesian. Japanese version mostly use Japanese.

Right : Mentholatum Acnes SPF 50+ PA++ (japanese)

you can read indonesian version's ingredients, but it's really hard to read japanese version's ingredients.

Right : Mentholatum Acnes SPF 50+ PA++ (japanese)
First difference!
Indonesian version has SPF 30 PA ++, Japanese version has SPF 50+ PA++
I know, it's not a big difference in protection (many people believe there's only 1% difference in protection between SPF 30 & SPF 50) but for staying power, it's counted.

Right : Mentholatum Acnes SPF 50+ PA++ (japanese)
They look almost the same!
both contains of 30ml product

Yeah, but indonesian version is a little bit taller!

..and indonesian version is a little bit grease.

Still, japanese version is un-read-able for me. So we skip ingredients difference!

Indonesian version doesnt contains of paraben nor mineral oil. But if you avoid silicone, this one is not for you. There's dimethicone in the list.
i dont know japanese version, but i think it's also contains silicone (i found it quite hard to remove, just a slight easier than indonesian version) so if you avoid silicone, it's better not to try this one either.

Right : Mentholatum Acnes SPF 50+ PA++ (japanese)
both has the same pointed hole, i found it really helpful  (⌒▽⌒)

 Swatch ~ Swatch !

.. this one was taken using indoor lamp ..

.. and this one was taken outdoor ..

yes, they has some difference :
  1. Japanese version seems more yellow-y than indonesian version. I found japanese version fit me better, indonesian version makes me looks like i'm wearing a mask :( .. i wish it's a sign that i'm really look like japanese *LOL
  2. Japanese version is slightly runnier, indonesian version is quite thicker
  3. Japanese version is more consistent in texture. It's seems & feels almost the same anytime i use it. Indonesian version doesn't. Sometimes i found it drop only the oil part (both need some shake before use), sometimes it's very thick, sometimes it's not. As in picture, Indonesian version has a very thick point in top (i drop it directly from the bottle) while japanese version doesn't.
  4. Japanese version is somehow more expensive than indonesian version. I bought Indonesian version for idr 35.000 - 40.000, but in some indonesian online shop, japanese version cost idr 140.000 - 150.000. I'm not sure about it's price in Japan, but i think it's still more expensive than Indonesian version.
  5. Even Japanese version contains higher SPF than Indonesian version, it doesn't give me white cast look, while indonesian version does.
and what are same about them?
  1. Very good coverage, you can use it alone without foundation or use it as tinted primer. But their coverage aren't buildable.
  2. i love the oil control!!
  3. it's quite hard to clean them up. Cleansing foam is not enough, I'm using cleansing oil to remove it.
  4. both contains silicone
  5. doesn't break me out
  6. doesn't let me going more dull nor darker (both works!)
  7. both are easy to absorb & easy to blend
  8. has acne prevention, really helpful!

Summary

i would really love to have japanese version than indonesian version, but if it's possible, in indonesian version's price (*/∇\*)

My rating* for japanese version : 4/5 (i drop 1 point for high price)
and for indonesian version : 3/5 (i drop 1 point for consistency and 1 point for white cast)

*my rating system might doesn't acceptable by you, i wrote it only to show you which one i love more, but it doesn't mean i don't like the other one. I just found one of them is suit me better.
